Popcorn Jesus is a mix media piece
that caused a sensation when it was first shown.
I found the bark in Central Park and
kept it because it was shaped like
a woman wearing a sari. I found the girl's face in a carpet catalog from ABC carpets, just perfect.
Little by little the composition came along
with the popcorn. One day I was
working at the cafeteria
in The Art Students League and
a popcorn popped from the machine.
At that moment, somehow it looked like a little baby.
As soon as I saw it, I thought of the bark
and everything else is history:
Popcorn Jesus made his first
miracle ans became a piece of art.
