In The Other Side Of The Shelf
A box of nails couldn't believe
They're being threatened:
"We just wanna have our family put in places
of security and stability...
Now He Comes And Says He Wants to Hit Us
In Our Heads?"
He Should Know Better:
Bitter Hammer
You Cannot Mess With
Irish Nails in Saint Patrick's Week
It's Like Poking
The Pope
Under His Robe
And Then After Filling Themselves Up With Pure
Irish whisky Made in Someone's
Backyard In Carrol Gardens,
They FacedThe Enemy
Nobody survived.
But a lesson was learned
Never Forget:
Do Not Mess
With Irish Rusty Nails

What I said before, I think.
This is one of my favorite pieces. I love that it is a narrative visually as well as having the wonderful verse. The Irish reference and the rusty nails make me think of the Pogues. There is a particular song called "St. John of Gods" that he did post-Pogues, where there is a character who is a street person, the one thing he has left is to consistently say "Eff yez all" to authority figures who toss him around, which gives him a strange sort of dignity. The song sounds as if it is being recorded in a bar.
